Biology and Chemistry of Vision Conference: Code of Conduct

All attendees, presenters, organizers, and sponsors of this scientific conference are expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and respect. This Conduct Statement outlines the shared expectations that ensure a safe, inclusive, and intellectually vibrant environment for all participants.

1. Commitment to Respectful Interaction

All participants must commit to respectful, courteous, and constructive interactions. Disagreements are natural in scientific discourse, but they must be expressed professionally and without resorting to personal attacks.

2. Anti-Harassment Policy

Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:

· Verbal or written harassment.

· Intimidation or threats.

· Unwelcome sexual attention or advances.

· Discriminatory remarks or behavior based on race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or religion.

3. Inclusivity and Accessibility

We strive to create an environment where everyone can participate fully. Attendees should:

4. Scientific Integrity

Participants are expected to:

5. Responsible Use of Technology and Media

Attendees must adhere to following conference policies:

· Photography and recording – no photography or video or audio recording of scientific presentations is allowed.

· Sharing data that is not yours on social media is not allowed

· Use of AI tools for note-taking or summarizing content is not allowed.

6. Professional Conduct in All Spaces

This policy applies to:

· Talks, posters, workshops, and panels.

· Social events and networking sessions.

· Informal interactions in hallways, lounges, and shared spaces.

7. Reporting Misconduct

If you experience or witness behavior inconsistent with this Code of Conduct Statement:

· Notify conference organizers or designated conduct officer immediately.

· Reports will be handled confidentially and taken seriously.

· Retaliation for reporting unacceptable behavior is also a violation of this Code of Conduct. This includes any communications (including social media) that could be perceived as shaming or threatening.

· The conference reserves the right to take appropriate action, including removal of offending individuals from this event and potentially future BCV meetings.

By attending this conference, you agree to uphold these standards and contribute to a welcoming, rigorous, and collaborative scientific environment.

Conference participants understand that the Biology and Chemistry of Vision Conference and its related parties will not be held responsible for any defamatory, offensive, or illegal conduct of any participant, nor be held liable for personal injury, property damage, theft, or damage of any kind suffered by the participants at or in connection with a Biology and Chemistry of Vision Conference.
